BASIC FUNCTION AND SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES The Supervisor manages the production activities within their department and is responsible for Overall Performance of the Manufacturing Departments including Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety, Continuous Improvement, and Training. Oversee operations in producing quality product. Coordinate fruit processing activities with other departments. Make recommendations, improve efficiency and control costs within department. Identify and correct quality problems. Provide employee training. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Perform as a proactive, "change agent" leader in manufacturing facility, providing support and direction to members of a work team. Hire, manage, and discipline department employees. Lead, motivate, and train employees to achieve production results, improve individual skills, and enhance teamwork. Resolve quality issues using the problem solving skills to identify the problems root cause and implement corrective and preventative measures to ensure the problem does not re-occur. Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and sanitation requirements. Function as a technical and business resource in areas of system operations and production requirements. Work towards continuous improvements in line performance measures by leading process action teams for assigned lines. Establish and sustain effective relationships with all employees in order to foster an environment where innovation and cooperation are used to solve problems. Dealing with and resolving conflict and interpersonal issues in a calm, controlled and professional manner. Make recommendations, improve efficiency and control costs. Conduct physical inspection of equipment and process system components. Oversee operation of complex processing environment. Conduct employee meetings. Develop productivity improvement and cost reduction strategies. Ensure accuracy of all employee documentation (i.e. timecards, attendance, counseling, etc.) Manpower Planning and effective staffing, including selecting operators, ensuring effective training and cross training. Understand policies, procedures, technical manuals and other material pertaining to the operation and make decisions as to how to best implement policies and procedures. Produce a quality product. Be the main driving force behind safety and process improvement within the department. Perform other job duties as assigned. Accommodations may be made in order for an individual with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this job. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTSL: Vocational School or some college courses. Bachelor's Degree preferred. TRAINING, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE Knowledge and skill equivalent to completion of 4 years college or 3 -5 years experience in a supervisory job in a manufacturing environment, preferably food or beverage experience. Multi-media communication skills. Ability to identify equipment problems and coordinate and monitor repairs. Valid driver's license and annual defensive driving course to operate company vehicle. NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Operate equipment when needed. Participate in CCJ sponsored training to improve supervisory skills. Function as an informal leader at Company sponsored events. Participate in the CCJ Safety team and Qualitivity programs. Train new employees. Promote subordinate development. EQUIPMENT Roller conveyors, ladders, hoses, valves, pumps (pressure & vacuum), tanks, air compressors, pressure/vacuum gauges, thermometers, fans, solenoids, motors and air controls, weighing apparatus, cleaning chemicals, heavy machinery, ear plugs, bump cap, safety glasses. WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed throughout the plant. Mobility to all areas of a multi-level facility. Requires exposure to temperature extremes, high noise levels, moving equipment, heights, wetness, fumes, vibrations, dust, etc. Work is performed on fixed shifts.
