Job Description:

Sparton is a world leader in the design, development, testing and production of complex maritime electronic systems, including sonobuoys in support of Anti-Submarine Warfare, submarine deployed products supporting Undersea Warfare, and depth-rated encapsulated systems to support Subsea and Seabed Warfare.

Position Objective

The Business Development (BD) Manager will report to the Vice President (VP) of Sparton Strategy and Business Development. Primary responsibilities include pursuing and capturing new business for sonobuoy and undersea warfare programs and products. This encompasses customer engagement, management of proposal development, marketing products/programs and providing input into BD Life Cycle processes. Additionally, the Business Development Manager will support the Strategy and BD VP in the preparation of BD related briefs, strategic plans, and briefings to visitors and leadership.

This position will require onsite training in DeLeon Springs, FL then can transition to full time remote and travel.

Primary Responsibilities

Perform market analysis and customer research to identify new opportunities and develop pursuit strategies for those new opportunities.

* Research organizations and customers to find new opportunities. * Preserve market share. * Identify market areas for growth. * Meet bookings goals. * Plan and overseeing new marketing initiatives. * Develop customer engagement plans. * Develop proposals for new business. * Lead capture management/proposal management activities for business growth pursuits. * Lead Gate Reviews. * Lead and participate in Color Teams. * Develop business development related briefings and other products for customers, partners and senior leaders * Attend conferences, meetings, and industry events that contribute to business growth, customer insight and competitive insight. * Manage/track opportunities and customer insight within the Customer Relationship Management tool. * Identify candidate tradeshows and conferences. * Provide business development related recommendations for annual budgeting. * Track and manage various components of the business development budget. * Manage VIP visits to the facility that support business sustainment and growth.

Required Education and Experience

* 4-year degree from an accredited university in Marketing, Finance, Business or related field OR a combination of education and relevant experience. * A minimum of 3 years of experience in Business Development in or related to Navy program offices.

Required Qualifications

* Proficiency with Salesforce or other Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software. * Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook and Teams. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Great leadership skills. * Knowledge of Business Development Life Cycle Processes. * Experience with Customer Relationship Management tools. * Strong communication skills and IT fluency. * Ability to manage and prioritize complex projects and multi-task. * Excellent organizational skills. * Ability to flourish with minimal guidance, be proactive, and handle uncertainty. * Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. * Top-notch analytical skills -- including an eye for detail! * The ability and desire to travel to meet customers, attend conferences and research new markets as needed.
