The Music Admission Recruiter (MAR) reports to both the Dean (Interim) of the School of Music and the Vice-President for Enrollment Management, working with the School of Music (SOM) and the offices of Admissions and Student Financial Planning. The MAR functions as a liaison between the SOM faculty and the enrollment management division, facilitates recruiting initiatives and events, and maintains up-to-date knowledge of aspects of the University including upcoming events, activities, financial aid and housing issues, as well as important recruitment goals and expectations. The successful candidate must be able to work flexible and varied hours.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Build relationships with prospective students and their families as well as alumni in music leadership positions. Communicate with prospective students and families through mailings, phone calls, e-mails, scheduling visits, personal interviews, and information sessions. Balance annual enrollment goals and scholarship awards with net revenue goals.

School of Music Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate, engage, qualify, persuade, and close with prospective students through heavy use of outgoing contacts via phone, email, etc. Seek always to categorize students and generate next steps in enrollment process.
  • Interview students and parents during campus visits. Determine best fit for the University and the School of Music.
  • Coordinate Hi-Notes be a music student for a day program. Collaborate with students and faculty to schedule prospective students in courses, ensembles, and lessons for a thorough visit experience.
  • Coordinate and plan all audition events throughout the year. Create event plan to accommodate visitors through audition schedules, entrance exams, informational sessions, financial aid presentations, and campus tours.
  • Coordinate with the Dean (interim)/Associate Dean and area chairs regarding recruitment goals and net revenue goals. Review scholarship awards, process, and decisions.
  • Maintain, organize, and revise all communications with prospective students including emails, admission decision letters, SOM admissions, scholarship letters, etc. Preserve data regarding scholarships and auditions to ensure sustainable data tracking within the SOM.
  • Provide faculty with regular data on prospective students including recruitment lists, application status, and overall matriculation expectations.
  • Maintain working relationships with faculty to assist in recruitment events on campus including summer camps, string institute, choral festivals, piano scholars weekend, etc.
  • Communicate with SU marketing regarding all advertisements, publications, brochures and mailings pertaining to the School of Music recruitment strategies.
  • Assist with ensemble travel as related to recruiting.
  • Coordinate FMEA recruitment including exhibit space, college night, advertisements, accommodations for the MAR and related work study students, etc.
  • Work with SoM Major Gifts Officer to plan and execute the Stetson FMEA reception, the Universitys most highly attended alumni event.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records through software including Banner and Connect. Assist SOM faculty in using recruitment software as is useful.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

Admissions Responsibilities

  • Cultivate, engage, qualify, persuade, and close with prospective students through heavy use of outgoing contacts via phone, email, etc. Seek always to categorize students and generate next steps in enrollment process.
  • Interview students and parents during campus visits. Determine best fit for the University and the School of Music.
  • Review admission applications, evaluate academic and service credentials, finalize admission decisions, and prepare files for Academic Committee review.
  • Research, plan, and execute recruitment activities for assigned high schools and conventions, including networking with guidance counselors at educational institutions, national and local conferences, prospective students and their families.
  • Maintain constant communication with admission and financial aid staff regarding music admissions and scholarship process.
  • Conduct financial aid discussions with all students including loan option, payment plans, federal and state aid allowances, final billing amounts, etc.
  • Provide coverage for:
    • All major university events including Open Houses, Hatter Saturday, J. Ollie Edmunds Scholars weekend, etc.
    • Saturday visits multiple times a semester.
    • Instant chat and student caller coverage multiple times a month.
  • Lead information sessions bi-weekly and provide campus tours as needed.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree
