Job Description Key Responsibilities May Include: Implement and maintain HSE management systems, review the GAP process and ensuring timely closure of corrective actions. Advise the plant leadership team on any updates or changes to applicable regulations and standards, maintaining high focus on the Brambles Absolute Safety First Rules Maintain focus on the emergency protocols and ensure full compliance. Oversee the day-to-day HSE activities of direct reports, ensuring performance goals are achieved and compliance maintained. Coordinate and drive improvement and action plans to meet compliance targets. Promote a proactive safety culture through active leadership empowering colleagues to participate in Safety First discussions in plant meetings and leadership sessions, including Learning Teams, ensure Safety Differently ethos is understood and practiced within all sites. Monitor and review training activities to ensure adherence to safety standards and compliance with regulatory requirements. Lead investigations for all incidents and significant near misses, ensuring lessons learned are communicated across the network. Continuously evaluate and improve plant-level HSE practices, sharing best practices and innovations across the network. POSITION PURPOSE Responsible for leading all health, safety, and environmental initiatives of the plant, performs safety audits, implements GAP safety and environmental SOP’s driving compliance with all corporate policies, goals and objectives. To lead and be the conscience of all Health Safety and Environmental matters within the plant ensuring all functional roles meet their respective legal and local obligations; overseeing all HSE regulatory compliance aspects. NUMBER OF REPORTS Direct: 1-2 MAJOR / KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Effective implementation of CHEP OHS&E Systems – ensuring the GAP process is reviewed on a regular basis and leading closure of resultant corrective actions. Lead and monitor continuous improvement via systemic change based on data and root cause analysis of incidents, near misses and environmental occurrences Oversees the day-to-day HSE duties of direct report(s) and ensuring performance expectations are met. Partners with HR to provide coaching and guidance for direct report (s) regarding performance concerns, goal setting, development, etc. Formulate practical ways to ensure engagement of all stake-holders on a plant and individual basis Implement and monitor OLIE and MOT as the-CHEP Behavior Observation System. Coordinating the Plant OHS&E Action Plan to achieve target compliance. Leading/facilitating Root cause investigation on all Incidents to actively reduce the plant TIFR. Leading/facilitating Root cause investigation on all potentially life changing Near Misses and to assist with communication to the network. Promote healthy Zero Harm discussions within the plant – Zero Harm meetings, PLT meetings. Update the plant KPI’s onto iCare on a monthly basis Monitor and review the iCare system to ensure all plant data is input correctly and within a timely manner. Monitor supervisory techniques on Health Safety and environment issues via MOT Monitor and ensuring consistent, timely responses to all issues relating to OHS&E. Communicating & documenting changes to procedures relating to OHS&E, or Management Systems. Advise plant leadership team of any changes to Health and Safety standards Review and identify safety training needs on site. Actively look to improve OHSE standards within the plant and at network level by evaluation of practicalities, continuous improvement techniques and best practice sharing Ensure legal obligations are met, review and update new legislation within the plant structure. MEASURES BIFR TRIFR GAP Fire Risk and Security OHSAS 18001 Site Environmental Management Plant Plant Engagement improvement measured through attendance, Kaizen, appraisals, team development and Brambles audit SCOPE US Plant AUTHORITY / DECISION MAKING In line with authority level Budget within approved limits Delegated responsibilities for Zero Harm in absence of Plant Manager KEY CONTACTS Internal: Plant Manager Regional Risk and Safety Manager All OSHE leaders within the network Regional Plant Lead Team members Local Plant Management team Operations staff within the plant Engineering Environmental business partner HR Business Partner External: Customers – as needed Vendors QUALIFICATIONS Education NEBOSH General Certificate; Tech degree, Safety level 1, Environmental level B, NEBOSH Diploma, Environmental qualification Training Auditing, SO 9001, ISO 14000 (1), ISOSH 18001 EXPERIENCE 3 years’ experience in previous Health, Safety, and Environmental role Previous supervisory experience Previous experience Leading and implementing HSE programs SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Proven working experience of working within a high volume / target driven manufacturing environment Strong Computer skills: MS Packages including MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint. Communication; written and verbal Problem Solving Ability to manage processes and motivate a team. Excellent problem-solving skills and critical thinking Must be able to effectively investigate incidents and determine the underlying cause.
