Job DescriptionDietary ManagerGeneral Purpose: To assist in
planning, organizing, developing and directing the overall
operation of the Dietary Department in accordance with current
federal, state and local standards governing the facility, and as
may be directed by the Administrator, to ensure that quality
nutritional services are provided on a daily basis and that the
Dietary Department is maintained in a clean, safe and sanitary
manner.I. Education & Qualifications:1. You must be a Registered
Dietitian or Certified Dietary Manager in good standing with all
applicable federal and state requirements or in training to
satisfactorily complete the requirements to become a Registered
Dietitian or Certified Dietary Manager.2. Completion of secondary
education or otherwise show ability to read, write and follow oral
and written directions.3. Must speak and understand English.4.
Previous experience in a supervisory capacity.5. Positive attitude
toward the elderly.II. Physical & Sensory Requirements:1. Must be
able to lift 40-50 lbs using proper body mechanics.2. Ability to
distinguish smells, taste and temperatures.3. Ability to
communicate professionally with residents, staff and visitors.4.
Must be able to walk, reach, bend, lift, stoop and carry moderately
heavy items5. Ability to remain calm under stress.6. Must be free
from communicable diseases that may be transmitted via food.7.
Ability to evaluate and interpret information and make independent
decisions.III. Duties and Responsibilities:1. Supervise and direct
the Dietary Department and assist in planning, developing,
organizing, implementing, evaluating and maintaining its programs
and activities.2. Coordinate dietary services and activities with
nursing and activity department and all other related
departments.3. Assist in developing, reviewing and planning normal,
special and therapeutic diet plans for residents.4. Ensure meals
are prepared and served in accordance with menu and diet
preferences and established portion control procedures.
