Job Description:
As a Border Patrol Agent with the U.S. Customs and Border
Protection (CBP), a pivotal branch of the Department of Homeland
Security, you will play an essential role in safeguarding our
nations borders. Your main duty will be to prevent illegal entry of
individuals, weapons, narcotics, and other contraband into the
United States, thus directly contributing to our wider mission to
thwart terrorism and enhance national security while ensuring
efficient cross-border traffic movement. Patrol international land
borders and coastal waters to detect and prevent unauthorized entry
into the country. Detect and prevent the smuggling and illegal
trafficking of drugs, humans, and other contraband. Perform
surveillance, conduct checks, and use monitoring equipment to watch
areas of interest. Apprehend individuals who are in violation of
immigration and customs regulations. Prepare and present reports
and briefings on border security activity and trends. Engage with
the public and other stakeholders to provide insights into border
protection measures and policies. Maintain the integrity and
professionalism expected of all agents by adhering to strict
ethical and legal guidelines. Capability to perform physically
demanding tasks such as running, walking, and standing for long
periods in different terrains and weather conditions Strong
interpersonal and communication skills for both team interaction
and interactions with potentially hostile individuals Analytical
skills to quickly assess situations and devise appropriate
responses Proficiency in operating security equipment and software
Bilingual language capabilities, preferably including Spanish, are
highly advantageous Medical Insurance Dental Insurance 401k Must
successfully complete the CBP Border Patrol training program at the
CBP Academy Must pass a thorough background check including a
polygraph examination A valid driver’s license and the ability to
carry a firearm are mandatory Physical and medical fitness test
certifications U.S. citizenship and residency for at least three
years prior to application
